Solar Eclipse!

On August 21, 2017 a total solar eclipse will be visible in the United States for the first time in 40 years. School-aged children are invited to visit the Hempfield Area High School Planetarium and learn more about eclipses, see what the eclipse will look like in the Pittsburgh area, and learn how to safely view the eclipse.

Registration is open for children. Due to limited seating, only registered children will be guaranteed admission.

Disclaimer: You are responsible for transportation to and from the event. This program will be held in a very dark room, which may be frightening for some children. School and library staff will be inside the planetarium as chaperones. A waiting area with additional activities will be available for guardians and other family members across the hall.
