Youth Services Coordinator @ Penn Area Library

The Penn Area Library is seeking a part-time Youth Services Coordinator to plan and execute programming for patrons ages birth to ten years, while also assisting with the daily operations of the Children’s Department and Circulation Desk. This individual will assist in developing and implementing programs and events for children and families.

Duties and Responsibilities: Primary tasks include, but are not limited to, planning and executing programming for patrons ages birth through ten years, while also assisting with the daily operations of the Children’s Department and Circulation Desk. This individual will plan and implement all programs for children and families and plan special events and outreach opportunities. This individual will also be responsible for overseeing the budget for youth programming.

Environmental & Physical Requirements: Located in a climate-controlled indoor environment, with occasional outdoor activity for events and programs. Most time is spent standing or walking, kneeling, stooping, reaching, and occasional climbing while handling materials. Individual item handling is required by grasping, pulling, pushing, and holding with one or both hands. This position requires pushing or pulling a book cart up to 300 pounds and handling individual materials up to 30 pounds.

Job Requirements: The ideal candidate for this position possesses a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood or Elementary Education and experience working with children and families.

Organizational Relationship: This position reports directly to the Library Director. This position cooperates with other staff members to meet the needs of the public, community, and the library.
