Combine Learning with Nature

Outdoor enthusiasts and amateur naturalists can check out one or more Westmoreland County nature-themed backpacks at any county library member of the Westmoreland Library Network. The backpacks were produced through a collaboration between the Westmoreland Land Trust and the Westmoreland Library Network.
Borrowers can choose one or more of the three different backpacks, each designed to combine learning about nature with exploring our county parks and trails: one for birds, one for flowers and pollinators, and one for streams and woods.
To enhance the educational and adventurous experience for all ages, each backpack is filled with supplies, equipment, nature guides, a copy of the Westmoreland County Parks Passport, and a map of the county’s five trails and ten parks.
The backpacks are housed at 23 library locations but can be shipped to any library in Westmoreland County for borrowing. For more information, call your favorite library or read more about the project at wcl.link/NaturePack
The backpacks are available now at Adams Memorial Library; Belle Vernon Public Library; Delmont Public Library; Greensburg-Hempfield Public Library; Jeannette Public Library; Ligonier Valley Library; Monessen Public Library; Mount Pleasant Free Public Library; Murrysville Community Library; New Florence Community Library; Norwin Public Library; Penn Area & Trafford Library; People’s Library; Rostraver & Smithton Public Library; Scottdale Public Library; Sewickley Township Public Library; Vandergrift Public Library; and West Newton Public Library.
