Every November, National Novel Writing Month issues a challenge: write a 50,000-word novel by the end of the month. Nearly 400,000 people participated last year, and some popular titles have come out of NaNoWriMo projects, such as Water for Elephants, The Night Circus, Wool, Fangirl, The Darwin Elevator, and Cinder. You can sign up for a free account on the NaNoWriMo website, track your progress, and connect with fellow novelists throughout the world.
Writing a novel is a big job. Luckily, Westmoreland Library Network member libraries are here to help. Many of our libraries have writing groups that meet on a regular basis, such as the Norwin Public Library‘s Original Characters Writers Workshop and Young Pencils Writers Group. The Delmont Public Library hosts The Delmont Area Writer’s Group every month. Contact your local library to find other writer’s groups in your area or start your own.
